Faith and community leaders in South Los Angeles, want residents to know that safe streets are for everyone.

In July, Our Weekly Los Angeles share Damian Kevitt’s story. Kevitt is the executive director of Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE).

SAFE has organized a Blessing for Safe Passage and Remembrance event this upcoming Saturday, August 28th.

The event will be from 10:00 am – 11:30 am at Figueroa Street Elementary School on the Corner of 111th and Figueroa Streets in Los Angeles.

Advocates are aiming to sound the alarm on the need for safer streets in local Black and Brown communities and across California.

Organizers said in the last 12 months, nearly 500 people have lost their lives or been seriously injured due to traffic violence in South Los Angeles.

Participants include people from all walks of the life. Faith and civic leaders, community members, Faith for Safer Streets and Streets Are For Everyone.
