Rep. Mike Garcia (CA-25) released the following statement after he co-sponsored the Protect and Serve Act, H.R. 3079. The bill would create enhanced penalties for those who purposefully attack law enforcement officers and cause death or serious bodily injury.
“Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every time they put on their uniform,” Garcia said. “It is imperative that we support our law enforcement officers. I am proud to co-sponsor this bill that holds accountable bad actors who purposefully harm law enforcement officers. I will continue to fight to ensure we fund the police and support our brave law enforcement officers and their families.”
The Protect and Serve Act would help protect our law enforcement and hold accountable those who seek to harm them.
Earlier this month, Garcia co-sponsored a resolution to recognize and support the dedication and devotion of law enforcement officers. It also condemns calls by the radical left to defund or abolish the police.
