Environmental Pride Month in the Antelope Valley

The City of Palmdale is celebrating Environmental Pride Month in April. Officials are asking residents to help make recycling and the planet more sustainable by sticking to three simple rules:

• Recycle clean bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, and glass

• Keep food and liquid out of your recycling

• No loose plastic bags or bagged recyclables, empty recyclables directly into your container

The greater initiative called “Go Green in the AV” is sponsored by Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, City of Palmdale, CalRecycle, Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force and Los Angeles County Public Works.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County is highlighting an improved Zero Waste Plan, which was first adopted locally in 2014 as the Roadmap to a Sustainable Waste Management Future.

The plan encourages residents and businesses to prioritize waste reduction through new waste diversion programs like reducing, reusing and recycling and rethinking waste through using alternative products.
