MOAH:CEDAR invites Antelope Valley residents and visitors to its newest exhibition of two solo artists: Diane Williams and Jose Lozano. The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 9, 2020.

Williams is an interdisciplinary artist whose experience as an immigrant woman from the Philippines informs her work. Her art addresses the political and social landscape that surrounds her—specifically the ethnically diverse neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

Williams uses art as a “call to arms,” creating works that explore issues involving immigrants and gender to encourage cultural and social understanding. Her exhibit is a survey of her work that explores the duality, hybridity, and ambiguity that can exist in diverse cultural narratives and identities.

Jose Lozano is a multimedia Chicano artist whose work also addresses cultural and social issues. Lozano’s multimedia pieces are colorful, playful, and have a child-like curiosity instilled in them. His images are both humorous and edged with social commentary, giving the viewer a refreshing lens through which to understand themes of identity, cultural erasure, and cultural amnesia.

Together with the Museum of Art & History, MOAH:CEDAR is a catalyst for engaging a diverse audience through captivating exhibitions, innovative artists, and dynamic programming. The gallery aspires to encourage progressive ideas and experimental genres of artwork, which highlight performance, education, and studio practice.

MOAH:CEDAR is located at 44857 Cedar Ave. and is open 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. For more information, visit www.lancastermoah.org/ or call (661) 723-6250.
