City of Carson officials, MBK Rental Living, and Snyder Langston have announced the groundbreaking of Evolve South Bay, a new 12-acre contemporary-designed apartment community  at 20330 S. Main St., in Carson.

Offering the fusion of an urban, fast-paced Los Angeles lifestyle in a sophisticated California coastal community, the Evolve South Bay community will include 300, three-story stacked flats with top-floor lofts with one-, two- and three-bedroom options with private garages.

“Evolve South Bay will provide much-needed rental opportunities in Carson while providing residential amenities not typically found in apartment communities,” said Craig Jones, president at MBK Rental Living. “Having Snyder Langston’s extensive site knowledge and strong relationships with the city of Carson and County of Los Angeles along with our high standards of quality will provide a solid foundation to the success of this project for local residents in a constrained marketplace.”

“The Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA), as developed by the State (California Department of Housing and Community Development) mandates numbers for residential housing.  Carson’s requirement is 1,698 residential housing units, including low, moderate, and high income,” said Carson Mayor Albert Robles.

“Currently, over 1,000 units are already under construction in Carson and over 3,000 additional residential units are currently going through a special permit review process by our Planning Division, clearly demonstrating that Carson is more than doing our fair share to address the state’s and region’s housing crisis,” Robles continued. “We are honoring Gov. Gavin Newsom’s appeal to local cities to provide more housing for their residents.”

The new community will feature luxury interior finishes including modern cabinetry, quartz counters, stainless steel appliances, and distinctive wood-style flooring. Modern amenities for tenants include state-of-the-art fitness center, resort-style pool and spa, barbeque area, outdoor fireplaces, outdoor fitness equipment, dog park, walking path, co-working space, business center, social lounge, and an open-air transition space known as a California Room.

Evolve South Bay is located in the busy coastal-oriented submarket that extends north to south via I-405 from LAX to Long Beach. Residents will have immediate access to I-405, I-105 and I-605, and nearby neighborhoods that include Compton, Gardena, Harbor City, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance.
