Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who was killed in an accident with a pickup truck. A woman coming to his aid was hit by a car and badly injured.
Marcus Dixon, 33, of Lancaster died at the scene about 1:30 a.m. May 19 near 15th Street East and Avenue I, according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the sheriff’s department, Dixon was westbound on Avenue I approaching 15th Street East when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck that was eastbound on Avenue I and turning left at the intersection.
The motorcyclist ended up beneath the pickup truck, and some bystanders came to his aid. That’s when a car that was westbound on Avenue I struck a woman who was assisting in the effort to aid the fallen motorcyclist, the sheriff’s department reported. She was taken to an area hospital with major injuries.
The motorist whose car struck the woman stayed at the scene, the sheriff’s department reported.
