Authorities have identified a young woman killed this week in a crash in Compton involving a hit-and-run driver who remains at large.
Deputies responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident at Compton Boulevard and Bullis Road, just east of Long Beach Boulevard, at 8:50 p.m. Monday, according to a sergeant at the Compton sheriff’s station.
Jennifer Lopez, 20, of Compton died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
Lopez was believed to have been driving east on Alondra Boulevard when struck by the suspect’s vehicle, which was southbound on Bullis Road, the sheriff’s department reported.
The driver fled before deputies arrived, abandoning the hit-and-run vehicle at the crash scene.
Investigators did not release a detailed description of the driver, but asked anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
