BET’s hot summer show “Hit the Floor” features Kyndall Ferguson, who is a second-generation Hollywood star. Ferguson is the daughter of legendary R&B singer El DeBarge. The show also stars Dean Cain, Teyana Taylor, McKinley Freeman and Katherine Bailess.

“Hit the Floor” is a drama that revolves around the personal and professional lives of the dancers for the Los Angeles Devils, a fictional basketball team.  The show originally appeared on VH1 but has now found at home at BET. It’s currently in its fourth season. It airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. PT.

“I think BET is doing a beautiful job promoting this as their summer show,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson said that her original interest was musical theatre and she signed her first music deal when she was 16.  But she has branched into the acting field. According to Ferguson, her first show where she appeared as a recurring character was “Clue.”

But her big breakthrough was in “Tales,” a BET show which dramatized famous R&B songs. The show was produced by Irv Gotti, who helmed the 1990s hit factory Murder, Inc. Ferguson said an executive saw her on “Tales” and recommended her for “Hit the Floor.”

Ferguson has also appeared on CBS’ “Code Black” and currently appears in the We tv reality show “Growing Up Hip Hop.”

And she hasn’t given up on her music career. She is currently working on an EP and has a new single out called “Selfish.”

“If I could package this EP in a gold case and wrap it up, I would,” said Ferguson on her website. “I’m so obsessed with my project and I feel so happy just being able to say that. I’d listen to it even if it weren’t my own.”

Ferguson, who currently resides in Corona, grew up in Houston, Texas and didn’t meet her famous father until she was 16.  She first met him at a radio station meet and greet. Although he wasn’t in her life growing up, she has developed a relationship with him now. She sees him when she can, and she seems happy with that.

“You have to meet people where they are,” said Ferguson.
