St. Joseph Center, a Venice-based organization that provides resources to assist working-poor families and individuals and homeless persons in leading more productive lives, will conduct on July 13 its initial “community happening” in South Los Angeles.

The “SoLA Open Air: A South LA Community Event,” will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at 8509 S. Broadway.

SoLA Open Air offers a fresh, engaging, and inviting event to the South LA community. Featuring food trucks, live music provided by SoulfulOfNoise, culinary tutorials from St. Joseph Center’s Culinary Training Program, games, and family-friendly activities, the event will provide the perfect kick-off to any summer weekend. With free admission, any and all South LA residents can participate and no one will be turned away for financial reasons.

“The purpose of the event is to bring a positive and inclusive community experience to St. Joseph Center’s neighbors in South LA.,” said Dr. Va Leica Adams Kellum, president and CEO of  St. Joseph Center. “After working in this community for a few years now, we’re excited to reach an even wider range of the area’s residents with this fun, family-friendly day! We look forward to offering many more events like this one at our new SoLA Open Air community space.”
