Tina Turner to receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award

Music legend Tina Turner will be honored at this year’s Grammy Awards with its Lifetime Achievement Award. The celebrated singer whose background includes being a major part of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue and the her own solo act is set to receive the honor, designed to celebrate “performers who have made outstanding contributions of artistic significance to the field of recording,” on Jan. 28 at the awards ceremony in New York City. Turner suffered years of abuse from then husband Ike before breaking free and launching one of the most successful rock music careers in the world. Her biggest hits included “What’s Love Got to Do with It” and “Private Dancer,” among many others. Turner has received many accolades during her storied career, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
