It’s amazing how George Zimmerman, once on trial for the murder of teen African American Trayvon Martin, still walks around spouting off his mouth, unchecked. News today reports that the controversial Zimmerman has openly threatened to “beat” Jay Z over the rap mogul and entrepreneur’s heavy involvement in a docu-series about the Trayvon Martin case, which made national headlines over its racial implications. As reported in Our Weekly, Jay Z successfully secured the rights to the Trayvon Martin story earlier this year and has moved forward with plans to produce a documentary series on the events leading up to his murder and its aftermath. According to media outlets such as the Huffington Post, Zimmerman, is now threatening Jay Z and the project’s co-executive producer, Michael Gasparro. Zimmerman has allegedly said the series’ production team made unannounced visits to his parents’ and uncle’s homes to get them on camera. He said the team “harassed” his family, but didn’t go into details. A private investigator with the crew trespassed at his uncle’s home, Zimmerman told the Orlando Sentinel. Zimmerman also told The Blast he would “beat Jay-Z,” adding that “anyone who fks with my parents will be fed to an alligator.” He referred to Martin’s shooting, saying, “I know how to handle people who fk with me, I have since February 2012.” (that’s when he shot Martin). Rapper Snoop Dogg responded to Zimmerman’s threat on Instagram Sunday, making it clear he was in Jay-Z’s corner: “f one hair on jay’s hair is touched that’s when the revolution will b televised. We one and to thank the system let the Bch azz muthafucca get away with murder try it again. Trayvon Martin Gone but not forgotten.”

The docu-series, titled “Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story,” leans on two books as source material: Lisa Bloom’s “Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It,” as well as “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin,” by Martin’s parents. Jay-Z initially partnered with the Weinstein Co. for the project but Harvey Weinstein’s name has been removed from “Rest In Power” amid the sexual harassment allegations against him.
