The Palmdale City Library will host a free afterhours 40th Birthday Celebration this evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the Library at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd.

“We are so excited to be celebrating 40 years of library service in Palmdale!” said Debbie Petersen, asistant library director. “We hope everyone will join us and help us celebrate this important milestone with cake, refreshments, a book swap and other birthday merriment.”

Residents who have been long time users and remember the early years are encouraged to attend and share their stories and memories of Palmdale City Library throughout the years.

The first building built by the City of Palmdale was the Palmdale City Library. Since its 1977 opening, the Palmdale City Library has provided residents with quality library services and materials and has been on the cutting edge of the latest programs and online services. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Palmdale City Library.

The Palmdale City Library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
