The Young Americans civic discussion group will meet next at Palmdale City Library on July 17 to discuss teen driving.

The youth group will discuss the basics of how to acquire a learner’s permit, obtaining your license and the responsibilities that come with the privilege of motoring. California DMV handbooks will be available, as will pizza and refreshments.

“Summer break presents a good opportunity for teens to inform themselves about DMV processes and requirements, as well as to consider the implications of becoming an additional driver on the road,” said Samuel Franco, library associate.

The Young Americans meet on the third Monday of each month to discuss topics such as personal finance, the function of government, social media and what it means to be an informed, active citizen.

The library is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
