At least one person was wounded this afternoon in a shooting in the Florence section of South Los Angeles.

Officers responded about 2:10 p.m. to a call of shots being heard in the 700 block of East 79th street, near Avalon Boulevard and found one victim with a gunshot wound, said Officer Aareon Jefferson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations office. An ambulance was dispatched to take the person to a hospital, he said. No information was available about the victim’s age, gender or condition. Police were speaking with a second victim at the scene, Jefferson said, but it was unclear if that person was struck by gunfire. No suspect information was immediately released
