A woman who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Inglewood that also left a man dead was a mother of three, according to her sister, who said the family wants answers.

Trisha Michael said the family held a news conference Monday afternoon at the scene of the Sunday morning shooting that killed 31-year-old Kisha Michael.

“The family is really still not sure of what happened,” she said. “We just want the truth. She was the mother of three children.”

The gunfire occurred about 3:10 a.m. Sunday on Manchester Boulevard at Inglewood Avenue, said Inglewood police Lt. Scott Collins.

Officers went there on a call that a vehicle had stopped in a traffic lane and saw that a woman had a gun, Collins said. The officers took cover and ordered the people to get out of the vehicle.

“An officer-involved shooting then occurred,” he said. “`Both occupants were struck by gunfire and the female occupant possessing the firearm was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The wounded man died at a hospital, Collins said. A gun was recovered at the scene of the shooting, police said. The coroner’s office withheld the names of the dead, pending completion of family notification.

Inglewood police asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting to call them at (310) 412-5246.
