Los Angeles Southwest College on Sept. 21 will begin a series of free professional work-readiness workshops to assist students in developing the skills needed to find employment and ascend the professional ladder.

Students will learn how to compose a successful resume, cover letter, as well as how to contact employers, prepare for a job interview, and learn to adhere to the best practices on social media. Workshops will also review what techniques students will need to employ in the workforce, including so-called “soft skills,” like time management and effective communication.

Participants must be currently enrolled in the Los Angeles Community College District.

Orientation will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays with the workshops scheduled from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Workshops will also take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

All activities will take place in Room 115 of the School of Career and Technical Education Building.
