The Palmdale City Council has appointed Roxana Martinez to fill the seat vacated last year by Tom Lackey, who was elected to the state assembly. Martinez had been serving as the vice-chair of the Palmdale Planning Commission and has served on the commission since 2012.

A long-time resident of the Antelope Valley, Martinez holds a bachelor’s degree in political science/philosophy, and is pursuing a master’s degree in philosophy. She owns and manages Lucky Roxy’s Cafe in Palmdale. Her first job was working for the city of Palmdale as a program leader in the Recreation and Culture Department.
