Known as the ‘People’s Attorney,’ for more than 20 years Nana Gyamfi has been a human and civil rights legal advocate. A graduate of Cornell University and UCLA’s School of Law, she is an attorney in private practice and runs the Crenshaw Legal Clinic where she provides legal ease workshops regarding knowing your rights. In addition, she currently represents the Black Lives Matter Los Angeles group which has been protesting police brutality and violence in Los Angeles and was recently featured in the “Tales of the Grim Sleeper” documentary film where she stated that the LAPD knew about serial killer Lonnie Franklin, Jr. but didn’t bother to rush to catch him because he was only killing Black women in South Los Angeles—who she says aren’t considered a priority in the department. She is also an adjunct professor at Cal State Los Angeles in the Pan African Studies Department.
