Students from around the county will participate in the Los Angeles BizCamp Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge July 18, beginning at 9 a.m., and the top three students will split $2,250 in prize money to use to help with their education or launch a business.

The event will feature 17 high school students pitching their business plans to a panel of judges at the Leimert Park Vision Theatre, 3341 W. 43rd Pl., Los Angeles, from 9 a.m. to noon, then the top three will compete head-to-head for $1,000 (first place), $750 (second) and $500 (third place).

The Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) BizCamp finals are being held in conjunction with NFTE CITI Foundation. In addition to the cash, the top two finishers in the L.A. competition have an opportunity to compete for five BizCamp slots at the national finals in Oct. 9 at the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley.

These students will be selected from an online competition at the conclusion of the summer.

Those interested in being in the audience at the L.A. finals, can email kathryn.morrissey@nfte.com for an RSVP.
