Happy Thanksgiving! As we take the time to spend the holiday with friends or family let’s be sure to count our blessings … and one more thing, be thankful for our men!

For an added incentive to be thankful, Jet magazine has listed 13 Black men they believe are sexier than People magazine’s choice, “The Voice” judge, Adam Levine who was selected as “The Sexiest Man Alive 2013.”

In response to People Magazine’s selection, Jet decided to put together their own list.

Number one on Jet’s list is actor Idris Elba. I have to agree, ironically he came in as number 2 on People Magazine’s list. Elba is currently starring in “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” a chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa. Naomie Harris (“Skyfall”) stars as Winnie Mandela.

Pharrell Williams (“Despicable Me” 1 and 2) takes the number 2 spot on the Jet list, and he comes in at number 9 on People Magazines selection. This brother is a triple threat; composer, actor and producer.

At number 3 on the Jet list is Columbus Short (“Scandal”).  This young man is a phenomenal talent. He is one heck of an actor, and his dancing ability is out of this world. Remember him in “Stomp the Yard?”

Tyler Perry find Lance Gross comes in at number 4 (“Temptation”).  This youngblood is making a name for himself in Hollywood.

And then there is Morris Chestnut, number 5 who is currently starring in “The Best Man” sequel, “The Best Man Holiday” where he flaunts his chiseled body.  Chestnut doesn’t work as much as he should.  He’s a talented young man and can certainly carry a film.

Tall, tan and talented Boris Kodjoe (“Baggage Claim”) at number 6, is another talented actor who doesn’t get enough roles in film or television. He made a brief appearance last year on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and I was like, no Boris, no.

Lucky 7 is Chiuetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”). What can I say about this brother? He is a consummate actor. Whatever role he takes on, he nails it and he is beautiful in face and form as well.

Common (“Hell on Wheels”) comes in at number 8. I like this man; he’s kind and has a lot of heart. This Chicago-bred rapper in recent years has become one of the more prominent voices in Hip Hop’s new millennium renaissance. His acting ability only demonstrates how multi-dimensional this brother is. Loved him in “Just Wright,” (2010).

Michael B. Jordan (“Fruitvale Station”) is number 9. His star is on the rise.  This versatile young man takes chances with his career, and he comes out on top each time.

If you haven’t seen Michael Ealy in Fox’s “Almost Normal” then you’re missing a real treat. Ealy is so natural on camera that he makes anyone playing opposite of him look good. He uses his beautiful eyes to convey thoughts that words have no power over. Hollywood likes this guy. Ealy comes in at number 10.

Lamman Rucker, number 13 is another Tyler Perry find, starring in such films as “Why Did I Get Married?” 1 and 2, as well as the “Meet the Browns” TV series. We would like to see more of this handsome brother.

Yes, I skipped a couple of numbers because I’m not familiar with them but they are just as handsome and talented as those listed above; Detroit Lions Wide Receiver, Calvin Johnson (11) and Comedian Romany Malco (12).

If you go to the Jet magazine website, you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorite performer or athlete. And while you’re at it, I’ve also included People magazine’s website so you can check out their list of “Sexiest Men Ever 2013.”
