BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be honored in Beverly Hills tonight for her humanitarian contributions.
Clinton will receive the Global Champion Award at the International Medical Corps’ 2013 Annual Awards Celebration at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The organization has delivered $1.5 billion in health care services and training to those hardest hit by natural disaster, conflict, famine and disease in more than 70 nations worldwide since its founding in 1984. It responded following the conflict in Darfur, earthquake in Haiti, famine in East Africa, earthquake and tsunami in Japan and civil war in Syria.
On Saturday, Clinton will receive the Hermandad Award at a brunch at USC from the Mexican American Leadership Initiative of the U.S.-Mexico Foundation.
The award is presented to leaders who have advanced the foundation’s mission of fostering constructive partnerships between the two nations the enhance opportunities for the people of Mexico and the health and prosperity of both nations.
The trip is Clinton’s fourth of the year to the Los Angeles area and second in two weeks. She attended a fundraiser in Beverly Hills Oct. 30 in support of Terry McAuliffe, who was elected governor of Virginia Tuesday.
In May, she received the inaugural Warren Christopher Public Service Award from the Pacific Council on International Policy in Beverly Hills. She spoke in June at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City as part of American Jewish University’s Public Lecture Series.
