LA Galaxy clinch spot in MLS Cup Playoffs

The LA Galaxy will return to the MLS Cup Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season and an MLS record 15th time in club history. The team clinched its berth with a 0-0 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes at StubHub Center. The Galaxy are guaranteed to finish no lower than fifth in the Western Conference.

The Galaxy are currently in third place in the Western Conference with a 15-11-7 record for 52 points. Portland is in first place with 54 points, and Real Salt Lake is in second place with 53 points. Colorado and Seattle are tied for fourth place with 51 points each. Portland, Real Salt Lake and Seattle have all clinched postseason berths. Either Colorado or San Jose will claim the fifth playoff spot. Chivas USA, FC Dallas and Vancouver all have been eliminated from playoff contention.

After playing their final group stage game in the CONCACAF Champions League on Thursday, October 24 in El Salvador against Isidro Metapan, the Galaxy will play their final game of the regular season on Sunday, October 27 against Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field.

The complete schedule for the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs will be unveiled following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday, October 27.
