LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Events are planned throughout Los Angeles County today, including aboard the U.S.S. Iowa and at Dodger Stadium, to mark the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The city of Los Angeles’ memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. at the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Elysian Park.

“At the same time we remember those who lost their lives on that fateful day in 2001, we should also take a moment to think of the first responders and service members who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is scheduled to attend the service.

A ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Fountain in front of Los Angeles Fire Station 88 in Sherman Oaks will begin at 6 p.m.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will pay tribute to first responders before tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. The National 9/11 Flag from the New York Says Thank You Foundation will be unfurled in center field by first responders, including two members of the New York Fire Department.

There will be a joint helicopter flyover by the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department.

An observance in honor of the first responders killed in the immediate aftermath of attack is planned for 8 a.m. aboard the U.S.S. Iowa, the decommissioned battleship that now serves as a floating museum docked in San Pedro. All first responders attending the ceremony will be welcome to tour the battleship for free following the observance.

Monterey Park’s annual observance will begin at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.

It will include presentations by the city’s fire and police departments and speeches by elected officials.

A remembrance ceremony conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and U.S. Forest Service will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale.

Rosemead’s fifth annual Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony will begin at noon adjacent to the city’s September 11th Memorial in the Civic Center. It will include a flag raising and wreath laying ceremonies and the playing of “Taps.”

Lakewood’s annual Patriot Day commemoration at Del Valle Park will begin at 6 p.m. with a concert of patriot music by the Huntington Beach Concert Band. Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca will deliver the keynote speech.

Beverly Hills will conduct a wreath laying ceremony at its 9/11 Memorial Garden at the corner of Rexford Drive and South Santa Monica Boulevard at 7 p.m., followed by a concert by the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic Orchestra.

Habitat for Humanity of Grater Los Angeles will mark the anniversary with an interfaith build day in Long Beach, with volunteers from churches in Rancho Palos Verdes, Long Beach and Hawthorne.
