HAWTHORNE, Calif.–A Hawthorne man who allegedly met his victim through an online dating service and was wanted on suspicion of rape has been arrested, police said today.

Police took Aaron Robinson, 32, into custody Wednesday night at his Hawthorne apartment, where the assault took place on Nov. 4, Lt. Scott Swain of the Hawthorne Police Department said.

A search of his apartment turned up evidence, Swaim said.

The suspect allegedly took the victim to a CVS in the 4700 block of West Rosecrans Avenue, where he purchased alcohol, then drove her to an apartment where the assault took place, according to police.

The victim, whose name was withheld, said she wasn’t sure where the apartment was located, but it was about three to four minutes from the store.

She also told detectives the apartment was inside a small tan complex of 10 to 12 units with an open air parking area in the center, Swaim said.

The woman said the suspect told her he moved to the Southland from Atlanta in June and worked at a law firm, according to police.
Robinson was held on $100,000 bond and tentatively scheduled to be arraigned at the Airport Courthouse Friday.
