Mayor in the making

One of the topics that dominated the question-and-answer section of the OurWeekly mayoral candidate forum held Saturday at Brookins Community A.M.E. Church at 4831 S. Gramercy Place in Los Angeles concerned where the four contenders stood on the Crenshaw/LAX rail line. Did they favor a stop at Leimert Park? Would they advocate that a portion of the line to go underground along Crenshaw Boulevard? How would they obtain the funding necessary to do all of the above? All four of the candidates–Eric Garcetti, Wendy Greueul, Kevin James and Jan Perry–support the line, but each has a different approach to solving some of the challenges associated with building the light rail system. Audience members had almost unfettered access to the mayoral candidates at the two-and-a-half-hour forum. Pictured above are the candidates, panelists/OW Editor Stanley O. Williford and Professor David L. Horne, Ph.D., and moderator Forescee Hogan-Rowles. See www.ourweekly.com for related video.
