The Long Beach Freedom School is hosting a public event today beginning at 6 p.m. for parents and youth called a Parent Empowerment Program Rally. It will provide community connections, information, as well as encouragement for parents who seek to be more involved in their child’s daily learning process.
While parents are in the information session, children will participate in a workshop called “Stories, Songs, and Drama” with storyteller Oba King, local musicians, and freedom school volunteers. The workshop will culminate in a 30-minute performance presented to the parents and the community at 7 p.m. The program will take place at The Prayer Center located at 5239 Atlantic Ave., Long Beach.
