Sacramento, CA — Termed out Los Angeles City Controller Laura Chick has been appointed as the California Recovery Act Inspector General, and will start her new position on April 27.

Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Chick to this position, which is said to be the first such post in the nation; and the Los Angeles politician will take a job which pays $175,000 annually and is expected to be a two-year stint.

Among Chick’s duties are watching for waste, fraud and abuse and making sure the $50 billion in direct spending the state expects to receive from the Federal Recovery Act is used appropriately.
She will also review the work of the California Recovery Task Force and the funding that comes through the state, as well as money sent directly to cities, counties, school districts, nonprofits and other entities.
