Dominguez was on the verge of being sent home by Fairfax, the defending State champions, in the semifinal round. Dominguezs first lead in the game was with :52 left in the first overtime. Jordan Hamiltons 28 points and 15 rebounds helped Dominguez outlast Fairfax 80-77 in the second overtime.
The other semifinal game also went into overtime, with Riverside King upsetting top-ranked Taft 83-82.
In the regional championship game Hamilton came up big again for Dominguez, leading them to an 83-74 victory. Hamilton scored 29 points in the game.
Dominguez will play Oakland McClymonds in the State title game. McClymonds lost in the title game last season to Fairfax. They are ranked No. 10 in the nation by USA Today. But that will not worry Dominguez, who is ranked No. 9 in the nation. Dominguez already defeated No. 2 Mater Dei a week ago.
Long Beach Poly is looking to win their third consecutive state title. Poly did not have any problems defeating Fontana Miller 87-58 in the semifinals, but Narbonne did give them all they could handle.
Polys Jasmine Dixon scored 23 points and had 20 rebounds as Poly pulled away in the second half of the game, winning 60-47. Monique Oliver had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Poly.
Gabrielle Clark scored 16 and Reiko Thomas scored 14 points for Narbonne.
Poly should be happy to run into Berkeley again in the State title game. Poly has defeated Berkeley for the State championship the past two years. 58-52 last season, and 54-34 two seasons ago.
