Lancaster municipal election
The City of Lancaster held its municipal elections with the positions of mayor and two council seats on the ballot for full four-year terms.
At press time, the unofficial results show that R. Rex Parris is on pace to secure the necessary votes to be re-elected as Mayor, while Ken Mann and Lauren Hughes-Leslie are on pace to secure city council seats. The results are preliminary and subject to change pending the count of all mail-in and provisional ballots.
“Although these are preliminary results, it will be a privilege and honor to serve again as your mayor,” Parris said. “I am deeply grateful to the residents of this city for their continued support as we work towards a safer, stronger, and more sustainable Lancaster. My journey in public service has been driven by a belief in the potential of every individual and the power of the community. From reducing gang violence to creating thousands of jobs and securing billions in investments, we've achieved remarkable milestones together. But our work is far from over. My primary goal is to keep Lancaster as the vibrant community I grew up in while ensuring it's a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Together, let's continue to write the story of Lancaster's success—one of progress, opportunity, and unwavering determination.”
“As a native of the Antelope Valley, I've witnessed firsthand the power of community and effective leadership,” said Councilmember Hughes-Leslie. “My experiences, both in the military and in various community organizations, have instilled in me a deep sense of duty to serve the people of Lancaster. I am committed to leveraging my skills and perspectives to ensure that our City continues to thrive and remain a place we proudly call home.”
“Lancaster is more than just a city to me; it's a community that I've had the privilege of serving for many years,” Mann said. “From my early days as a business owner to my current role on the City Council, I've always believed in the importance of collaborative and forward-thinking leadership. I am dedicated to continuing our city's progress and prosperity through strategic initiatives and inclusive decision-making processes. Together, we can build an even brighter future for Lancaster.”
There was one initiative on the ballot, Measure C. Measure C proposes that the City of Lancaster explore and potentially establish a drug treatment program similar to Teen Challenge to address drug-related issues within our community. This measure reflects the community's efforts to address critical issues surrounding substance abuse and addiction, highlighting the importance of finding effective solutions to support the well-being and safety of our residents. The ballot for Measure C has unofficially passed.
