Mattress drive supports Haitian refugees in Tijuana

On January 17, San Diego residents Terry Sivers and Prince Graham made a trip down to the Mexican border with a truck full of 20 mattresses to donate to a shelter housing between 300 and 500 Haitian refugees. The mattresses were collected in a drive that they promoted on Facebook. After being turned away at an initial border crossing, Sivers and Graham were starting to doubt if they’d make it across with the much-needed mattresses. However, in a turn of events that Sivers described as “the ancestors working in their favor,” they were able to get through.
