During the holiday season, artists aim to use their music to spread love, fun, and Christmas magic. Local artist Jules Liesl is looking to help people get into the Christmas spirit with her new song “Santa Claus, My Christmas Wish is You.”

Liesl describes her Christmas song as a magical, fun, cheery Christmas song that can also provide an imitate vibe with a significant other.  Making sure people feel something in her music is not new for Liesl, as all her work has a way of putting people in certain emotional headspaces where they can connect with the music on a personal level.

Another track Liesl has out is “If I Were a Genie.” This track is about creating a space where honesty and vulnerability can flourish. The passionate artist explores themes of dating someone while saddled with mental health struggles and body positivity. Liesl describes this track as motivational. After all, even if she wants love, she knows it’s still a lot of work, because she is still working on improving herself.

Liesl discovered her talent for singing at a young age,

“I think I was singing before I could talk! It has always been my passion.” she said when talking about her love for singing.

Before tapping into the music industry and working with names like Cameron Sauve and Fencer, Liesl was a model. After six years in the modeling industry, she developed a dangerous eating disorder and struggled to find inner wellness, knowing deep down she needed a new career path to find balance and harmony.

Liesl didn’t start taking music seriously until 2018, towards the end of her modeling career.  Liesl mentions that although it was hard transitioning from modeling to becoming an artist because people didn’t take her seriously, she regrets nothing, as singing is her passion.

“Using my voice to let people know they are not alone in their struggles and that it’s okay to be sad by sharing my own experiences and being transparent about the issues,” Liesl said. “I hope it inspires others to do the same and bring awareness to mental health.”

She found her true calling in music, pouring her heart out to her listeners through each new song. She has a particular aesthetic with each single she releases, as she has synesthesia — the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.

Liesl associates the colors purple and red with fun Latin vibes and gold with ballet dance. Her favorite colors are red and gold, also a tribute to her favorite holiday, Christmas.

“It gives me so much nostalgia and reminds me of family and happiness,” Lesi said.

Liesl’s plans do involve an album and a potential tour, with neither having solid dates to share at this time. But fresh off her electric performance at Break Room 86, fans probably won’t have to wait long for an announcement.
