Back to School events for students and parents

Community Services Unlimited (CSU) is hosting events throughout August to give back to the community and those in need.

Through the 19th, CSU will have a healthy student’s week event from 1 to 6 p.m. Students can come to the Paul Robeson Community Wellness Center, 6569 S. Vermont Ave., to get an After School Snack Special for free. Inside the special bag will be a drink, a snack, a fruit, and information about CSU and CORE resources.

On Aug. 19, students and parents can partake in an Ice Cream Social event from 3 to 6 p.m. at the wellness center. This event will provide free ice cream sundaes celebrating the first week of school.

Councilmember Holly Mitchell hosts a community event this Saturday, as an annual back to school community event will be held on the California State University Dominguez Hills campus, 1000 E. Victoria St. in Carson,  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20.

This event will feature health and dental screenings, free food and beverages, live music, a petting zoo, and pony rides, plus more. This free event will also provide backpacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, cellphones, tablets and game prizes.

Then on Aug. 27, CSU will be hosting a Morning of Wellness, a free event, from 9 a.m. to noon at  the Paul Robeson Community Wellness Center. For more information on CSU events, visit https://tinyurl.com/mn85epxt. Donations are welcomed.
