According to Tuesday’s ballot count update, available on LAvote.net, county election officials noted that Rep. Karen Bass (CA-37) had garnered 41.05 percent of the vote in the primary race for Mayor of Los Angeles.

At that point, she led developer Rick Caruso. Tuesday’s count had him with 38.29 percent of the vote. Caruso’s lead was 6 percentage points at the June 7 count, and it was reduced to four points three days later.

Final counting of ballots may take weeks. In any case, the two contenders will meet on the ballot again in November.

As of Tuesday, 1,258,049 votes had been counted. More than 80 percent of those were Vote-by-Mail ballots and 19.54 percent were ballots gathered at the Vote Centers. The next vote update from the county is expected on Friday.
