Spring has officially sprung, and the Easter Bunny is on the loose. Join the City of Lancaster for a fun-filled Easter eggstravaganza beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park, 43063 10th Street West, in Lancaster
Have fun taking photos with the Easter Bunny, find hidden Easter eggs, win prizes, and more at the event, which will also feature a variety of children’s entertainment in-between egg hunts and special photo opportunities for families.
Egg hunts are scheduled by children’s ages, starting at 9:30 a.m. with infants up to 1-year-olds in field #1. At 9:50 a.m. 2 year olds will take to field #2. At 10:10 a.m. the 3-year-olds will be on field #3. At 10:30 a.m., 4 and 5 year old children will be on field #4. At 10:50 a.m., 6-year-olds will take over field #1. At 11:10 a.m., the 7-year-olds will be on field #2. And at 11:30 a.m., 8 and 9-year-old children will hunt on field #1.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza is a Lancaster tradition. This year, the Easter Bunny will hide giant eggs throughout the city.
You have until April 30 to find and take pictures with the eggs. Email your photos to prareply@cityoflancasterca.org for a chance to win a prize and to be featured on social media.
• Winning photo submissions will include: Best family photo; cutest photo; best pet photo; silliest photo; and best couple photo.
These giant eggs have been painted by local artists in collaboration with MOAH, including Nuri Amanatullah, Tina Dille, and Edwin Vasquez. There are six:
• One egg can be found sitting in front of this downtown facility that hosts council meetings.
• The second egg can be found at this scenic location within an urban area that was established to provide visitors an opportunity to learn about animals, plants, and the region in which we live. This is also a place to simply relax and enjoy nature.
• Another egg can be found near a jet at one of the city’s most prestigious facilities. This facility is used for a variety of film shoots and the annual Field of Drafts event.
• Look for the fourth egg on the lawn of a space that has been used as a courthouse, library, hospital, theatre, and art gallery since it was built almost a century ago. Even Judy Garland has performed on its stage.
• The fifth egg can be found near a monument in dedication of one of our community heroes. It is located in a facility with a new playground and has 8 fields that are used for both league and tournament play.
• The last and final egg can be found at a facility that has been around since 1980. It has picnic shelters, a playground, two lighted baseball fields, two basketball courts and nine barbecues.
