Fans celebrate at festive Rams rally

Wednesday’s championship parade and rally for the L.A. Rams was quite historic, as the city’s sports fans had not been able to celebrate the past wins of the Dodgers or the Lakers due to the pandemic.

It was also historic for Aaron Donald, the 285-pound defensive tackle, who has recently been celebrated as one of the game’s greatest of all time.

“I dreamed this for so long, we dreamed this for so long,” Donald said  during the rally held in front of the Memorial Coliseum. “We world champions! This is what it’s all about.”

When Coach Sean McVay asked the 30-year-old the question on everyone’s mind – will he return for another season—Donald responded: “Why not run it back?”

The Los Angeles Rams’ down-to-the-wire 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock, NBC Sports Digital, NFL Digital platforms and Yahoo Sports mobile properties averaged a Total Audience Delivery of 112.3 million viewers to rank as the most-watched show in five years, according to NFLcommunications.com.

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts was interviewed Wednesday morning before the parade and was smiling ear to ear as a result of the Super Bowl festivities.

“This is going to change things,” he said, noting that thousands of people visited his city for the Super Bowl in what he called the “Palace on Prairie” and during the Taste of Inglewood on Market Street the days before the game. “The people who came to town for these events will come back.”
