On Jan. 10, Gov. Newsom announced his 2022-23 Budget Proposal, with notable investments into health care, housing, and the climate crisis.

“I am thrilled to see Governor Newsom prioritize economic justice by investing in California communities most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sen. Sydney Kamlager. (D-30) in a press statement. “It is particularly encouraging to hear the announcement of universal health care coverage, funding to address California’s drought, $2 billion for mental health housing and services, and additional child care slots – just to name a few.

“I think there is some good stuff in this budget and I will be working to make sure it is felt by constituents throughout my district and beyond.”
