Councilwoman Michelle Chambers will launch a first-time home buyer workshop in the City of Compton to provide residents and community members with resources, education, and a roadmap to begin the journey of purchasing their first home. The virtual event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6. At bit.ly/ComptonHomeBuying_Nov21

Though the homebuying process can feel intimidating, it is essential in building generational wealth. The event is in partnership with Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang, who will present information about property taxes alongside a U.S. Bank representative who will outline the financial obligations, including initial down payment assistance available for first-time home buyers.

The workshop is open to everyone and will be offered in both English and Spanish to ensure that everyone interested in participating in the workshop is able to. The workshop will focus on sharing information about the pre-qualifying process, loan programs, credit scores, how to submit an offer, income requirements, and much more. The next webinar in the series will be an in-person workshop, which is scheduled for Dec. 4.
