The Public Media Group of Southern California, the parent company of PBS SoCal, KCET and Link TV, has named Ashley Vickers as Vice President, Human Resources. In this role, Vickers will serve as a member of the executive management team, responsible for developing and delivering best practices in HR management, as well as provide strategic HR leadership and perspective for the organization. She will oversee all HR functions, including employee engagement and retention, employee/labor relations, HR strategic planning, total reward, diversity and inclusion, risk management, compliance, talent acquisition, workforce management, as well as learning and development.

Vickers has played a vital role at the Public Media Group of Southern California since the merger of KCETLink and PBS SoCal approximately three years ago. She has led organizational integration efforts in addition to pandemic response efforts spearheading COVID-19 prevention. She has overseen critical operational and policy issues that have included remote work, telecommuting, compliance and the safety of staff in the building and in the field.

Vickers will also provide leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts. To date, Vicker’s DEI efforts have included the design of an internal DEI framework, the launch of organizational Employee Resource Groups and collaboration with the Board’s Task Force on Anti-Racism and Social Justice.

“We are committed to expanding and strengthening our efforts to actively promote a more inclusive and equitable future for all of our employees and Ashley will play an important role in leading our organization in this direction,” remarked President and CEO of the Public Media Group of Southern California Andrew Russell. “Her passion for the organization and her commitment to staff is evident in all she does. We are excited about the leadership role she is assuming within the Public Media Group of Southern California.”

Vickers received a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Villanova University and brings nearly 15 years of human resources experience in both the public and private sectors. She serves as a board member with the UC  RiversideTransformative Leadership Board and with the Pasadena/Altadena Ivy Foundation. Vickers is also the President of the Pasadena chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

“I am truly excited and grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to the important work that lies ahead,” said Vickers. “It is wonderful to be part of a team creating new opportunities in public media and serving the diverse communities of our region. This is a chance to elevate the role Human Resources has in this space.”
