Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of Muhammad Ali is on his way.  Nico won his first pro fight Saturday night, with a TKO in the first round.

He did it while paying homage to his grandfather by wearing the GOAT’s boxing trunks.

“It’s been an emotional journey, this whole ride,” Ali Walsh said after the fight. “Obviously, my grandfather, I’ve been thinking about him so much. I miss him.”

Ali Walsh, a 21-year-old college student, defeated Jordan Weeks.

Still, Ali Walsh looked competent for a relative novice and displayed good hand speed and power against Weeks, an MMA fighter who had been stopped in his last boxing match.

Ali Walsh celebrated with family and friends, including 89-year-old legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum, who promoted 27 of Muhammad Ali’s fights.

“I’m a believer in genes,” Arum told a reporter.

Ali Walsh revealed his boxing trunks were made for his grandfather, who gave them to him.

“I’m never wearing these trunks again,” Nico proclaimed.
