The City of Palmdale will host a Mental Health Virtual Town Hall via Zoom on Monday, April 19 at 10 a.m. to provide an opportunity for residents to gain valuable tools for coping with mental health concerns, and a chance to lean on the support provided by those with knowledge and experience in the field. It is open to all ages.

The featured presenters will be John Glover, LCSW, CPRP, and Joana Pavo Domingo, LMFT, with Mental Health America Los Angeles. They will address how stress affects health, discuss the most common causes of stress, and provide useful techniques for stress management.

Interested persons need to register by emailing info@cityofpalmdale.org and note “Mental Health Town Hall” in the subject line. City staff will reply with the details for accessing the Zoom meeting. Participants who complete a survey at the end of the presentation will have an opportunity to win a gift card to a local business.

“Since 1992, April has been recognized as Stress Awareness Month,” said Palmdale’s City Manager J.J. Murphy. “I think it goes without saying that we all have endured one of the most stressful years in our lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning techniques to cope with our stress and finding healthy ways to deal with these situations can go a long way in living a healthy and positive life.”

If anyone is experiencing anxiety, depression or needs to talk to someone immediately, call the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health 24-hour hotline at (800) 854-7771, or text LA to 741741.
