The City of Lancaster is focused on how it can serve it’s local businesses – an integral component to the local community and economy. One resource that Vice Mayor Marvin Crist helped secure is a rebate for businesses within Sanitation District 14.

Businesses in District 14 could be entitled to a partial rebate on Sanitation District wastewater service charge payments if they were impacted by COVID-19.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, our focus has been on our community. This includes our local businesses who need our support more than ever as we recover from this pandemic. The Sanitation District 14 has money set aside in its reserves for this very occasion, and we need to start using part of that funding to help out our businesses,” said Crist. “The road to recovery is long. Providing some relief with a rebate on sanitation costs is a way that we can show our appreciation and support.”

The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts created a rebate program with the goal of providing aid to businesses whose sewer usage was reduced due to the safer-at-home orders.

This program provides a way for qualified businesses with reduced or no water use, as a result of the pandemic, to potentially receive a reduction or partial rebate of their District 14 wastewater service charge payments. The service charge payment is a separate line item on the property tax bill.

Applications for the COVID-19 rebate will be accepted through June 30.
