The Navigation Center at 729 W. Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles is providing critical services to people experiencing homelessness and connecting them to resources, such as employment opportunities and supportive housing.

At a cost of about $9 million through Proposition HHH funding, the facility  will allow thousands of unhoused Angelenos to safely wash and store their belongings while accessing additional services.

The Navigation Center involved the assembly of modular units to form an integrated building to house a homeless operations center. While the center’s primary use is to provide storage space for the most vulnerable in our neighborhoods – in the form of approximately 250 individually allocated storage bins – the center is a one-stop-shop providing a number of services to those experiencing homelessness.

There are restrooms, showers, and dressing room facilities, classrooms for job training, laundry facilities, and offices for the Navigation Center staff to connect clients to housing and employment services.

Officials hope the project can serve as a step towards restoring hope and humanity to those living on the streets. The best way to connectindividuals in need of services is to dial 2-1-1 or contact the services provider – Homeless Outreach Program Integrated Care System (HOPICS) at (323) 432-4399.
