On Aug. 19, Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40) announced the awarding of more than $23 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants to the California Department of Public Health to help address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Public Health is receiving $13.1 million for contract testing services, as well as $10.4 million for alternative care sites and emergency medical care facility expenses statewide.

“As California continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, FEMA grants like these will help our state save lives and contain the spread of the coronavirus,” said Roybal-Allard.  “FEMA’s support is essential to our ongoing fight to protect California families, and to defeat COVID-19. I oversee FEMA funding as chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, and will keep doing all I can to ensure FEMA continues to help our communities in the midst of this crisis.”
