Identification in suspected DUI fatality in Lancaster

Authorities this week identified a passenger who was killed in a crash in Lancaster that left the driver in custody on suspicion of DUI.

Arturo Rosales Jr., 36,  of Lancaster died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 4 a.m. Saturday at West Avenue E and 30th Street West.

Jamie Levy, 33, of Lancaster, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and was being held on $100,000 bail, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the CHP, Levy was driving west on Avenue E in a 2014 Scion TC, approaching 30th Street West at an undetermined speed, when she failed to stop for the posted stop sign at the intersection and allowed the car to leave the roadway, where it struck a dirt berm.

Levy, who suffered moderate injuries, was taken to an area hospital and was arrested, the CHP reported.
