Remains are discovered in Lake Los Angeles area

Authorities this week began an investigation into the discovery of the skeletal remains of two victims found in the Lake Los Angeles area.

A hiker found the remains of one victim Monday at about 6:35 p.m. near 230 Street East and East Avenue P-3, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The scene was secured by deputies overnight, and on Tuesday morning investigators with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office responded to the scene, the department reported. Sheriff’s homicide detectives found the remains of an additional victim while searching the scene and surrounding area, according to the department.

The coroner’s office is working to identify the victims and determine the cause of death, and further information was not released.
