The city of Palmdale will co-host a “Rock the Art: Share the Love” event with AVRocks on Saturday, March 7 from  10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. in  the Domenic Massari Community Building, 37716 55th St. East, in Palmdale. The event is free and open to everyone age 5 years and older.

Park staff will provide rocks, paint, brushes and tips to help participants create inspiration and beautiful motivational rocks. After painting, participants will be encouraged to “hide” them nearby with the hope and intention that the finder will be encouraged to share the love, and to share the experience on social media with the hashtags #AVRocks and #RockTheArtPalmdale.

A member from the Facebook page, #AVRocks will be on hand to help share techniques and fun.

“Do you enjoy painting? Do you like to make others happy with random acts of kindness?” asked Palmdale’s Recreation Coordinator Joi Christy. “The rock movement encourages members of the public to create ‘painted masterpieces’ on rocks, hide them throughout the Antelope Valley, and post the location on social media. The goal is for the finder to take a picture of the found rock, post on social media, using the hashtags again, and either re-hide the rock or keep it for a period of time before re-hiding it.”

For more information, call (661) 267-5593 weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. or weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
