Medical experts will be on hand for a “Night of Beauty” event, to provide women living with Lupus — “Lupus Warriors”– an opportunity to receive self-care tips and learn about available tools and resources to help manage their disease. GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is hosting the event, which is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday,

Jan. 30 in Sephora at the Westfield Century City Mall, 10250 Santa Monica blvd., LA. Participants will also take part in a panel discussion moderated by lupus advocate and Emmy-nominated actress, Tichina Arnold, and hear from other Lupus Warriors and health experts. For years, Arnold has advocated for women with lupus and has witnessed its complications first hand because of its impact on her sister – and in her life as her caretaker.

The event will also incorporate skincare and makeup consultations with Sephora Collection’s Artists and Beauty Ambassadors. According to Lupus LA , in Los Angeles County alone, there are over 60,000 people living with lupus. The CDC has found that women ages 15 to 44 are at the greatest risk of developing lupus, with African-American women being two to three times more likely to develop the disease than Caucasian women.
