The city of Palmdale’s neighborhood services department will host two free disaster preparedness basics presentations in January.

The first presentation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 38300 Sierra Hwy, Suite B. The second will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 9 a.m. at Legacy Commons for Active Seniors 930 East Avenue Q. Both presentations are free and open to the public, and will provide information and resources on easy and cost-effective ways to prepare for a disaster.

“Being properly prepared for an emergency is a must for all residents,” said Public Safety Specialist Abner Diaz. “Whether you are sheltering in place or evacuating, now is the time to prepare.

“We’ve recently had earthquakes, fires, and floods all close to home,” noted Diaz. “It’s not a matter of if but when a disaster will strike. Preparation is key.”

“We encourage residents to attend one of these free presentations and learn how easy it is to be prepared,” said Diaz. “It’s never too early to prepare but it can be too late!”
