Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza celebrates the holiday season

Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza’s (BHCP) annual Winter Wonderland and holiday celebration returns this Saturday, Dec. 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the plaza, 3650 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The event, a partnership between City Council District 8 and BHCP, will feature snow, sledding, holiday crafts, entertainment and holiday treats. Toy giveaways and a visit from Santa Claus will highlight the day.

“Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson and Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza are proud to represent the largest annual holiday event within the Crenshaw corridor,” said Rachel Freeman, president/CEO of Capri Retail Services. “We are dedicated to giving back and celebrating here in the community.”

Since 2011, BHCP’s Winter Wonderland has attracted more than 20,000 attendees.

“I love to see our community come together,” Harris-Dawson said. “As a life-long South Los Angeles resident, I understand the value of having events like this that spread joy and allow us to celebrate the holidays together. It’s also an opportunity for us to give back to families and children who may have never experienced winter activities like sledding, or may not receive toys for Christmas.”

All activities are free and open to the public. Performances begin at 4:30 p.m. The Noelles, an a cappella, Christmas carol quintet, will open with a selection of classics for everyone to sing along. Grammy-nominated soul singer Marsha Ambrosius, formerly of the R&B duo Floetry, will sing renditions of holiday favorites and popular music.
