Police this week sought the public’s help in identifying a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and critically injured last week in South Los Angeles.

The victim, a man who appeared to be in his early- to mid-30s, was in a crosswalk about 11:55 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of San Pedro and 36th streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver of the 2014 Ford Taurus that struck the man was unable to stop in time, but did remain at the scene following the collision and was cooperating with the investigation. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.

The pedestrian was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 140-150 pounds, with a bald head and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is urged to call the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division at (213) 833-3713 to speak with Officer Mendoza, who can also be reached at 32010@lapd.online.
